Constitutional Convention reconvenes in usual way.

The oppressive regime reopened it's drafting of a constitution this week with the usual lashing out at the west and democratic institutions, all while claiming to be building a road to a democratic state. This gave the junta an official soap box from which to denounce the US move to have successfully Burma put on the UNSC agenda, a move which as of yet has filed to produce any serious public discussion.

More than 1,000 delegates attended the convention, which human rights groups have denounced as a sham and undemocratic because delegates were hand-picked by the military and neither pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi nor her National League for Democracy, or NLD, party are taking part.

This pseudo-convention coincides with a new offensive by the military in Karen State.

Burmese forces solidified their offensive positions in Karen State. Recent troop deployments bring the number of battalions in the area to nearly 70—comprising an estimated 10,000 troops.

Free Burma Randgers has photos from September of some civilians being forced to build a camp in Karen State, this is

one of many camps in this area and is a launch point for attacks that are part of the ongoing offensive.
